The St. Mary Parish Library meeting rooms are designed to accommodate the needs of non-profit community organizations, provided that their activities align with the Library’s operations and services and are related to the library’s goals and objectives.

Meeting rooms are available at the Alex P. Allain Memorial Library (Franklin), Amelia, Bayou Vista, Berwick, Centerville, and West End Branches. Priority is given to library-sponsored programs.

These rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis for cultural, educational, charitable, historical, fraternal, and civic groups. However, the use of these rooms is not permitted for:

  • Commercial purposes
  • Social gatherings
  • Private parties
  • Political meetings
  • Religious worship and preaching
  • Money-making events
  • Programs conducted by commercial firms

Book a Study Space

Book a Space

The Berwick Branch is the only location that offers a dedicated study space for public use at this time. This room can accommodate up to 5 people and is equipped with one table, five chairs, and a whiteboard with dry-erase markers and an eraser. Reservations are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with no daily limit on use per person. Reserved time slots will be held for up to 15 minutes past the scheduled start time. This space is ideal for group projects, tutoring sessions, or quiet individual study.

Rules

  • For non-profit public use only; no private, political, religious, or commercial events.
  • Must be reserved by adults (18+) with a valid library card; max 2 meetings per month per group.
  • Meetings must be open to the public, held during library hours, and end 30 minutes before closing.
  • No cooking, smoking, alcohol, or sales; light catering and coffee allowed with cleanup required.
  • Rooms must be cleaned and reset; groups are responsible for damages and following fire codes.
  • No publicity may list the library as a sponsor without written approval.

Scheduling

  • Requests for the use of a meeting room can be made 72 hours ahead and up to 30 days in advance on a first-come, first-served basis. No same-day bookings.
  • First priority in scheduling a meeting room will be given to Library activities, including staff meetings, and Library Board meetings. The Library Director will make the final determination/decision in the case of any conflict of scheduling.
  • While every attempt will be made to accommodate all groups, reservations cannot be guaranteed
  • Access to meeting room spaces requires prior application approval. S

St. Mary Parish Library now offers a new and convenient way to reserve rooms with our online booking system, LibCal!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Search the Location – Start by selecting the library location you’d like to reserve a space at.1 Search Copy

  2. Search the Space – Choose “Search by Space” and click the search icon.2 Search By Space Copy

  3. View Availability – Click “Show Availability” to see open times for that location’s space.3 Show Availability Copy

  4. Select a Time – Click a green box to choose your start time. The system defaults to a one-hour slot, but you can adjust the end time using the dropdown menu below the calendar.  GridGrid 2Grid 3 Grid 4

  5. Submit Your Request – Complete the booking form and submit your request for approval.

  6. Approval Process – Library managers will review and either approve or deny the request.
